How did you become designer ?
I come from a family where several members are linked to art. And I was no different. I have always been very involved with various forms of expression, such as poetry, music, illustration (although I do not consider myself an illustrator). So when I was 15, influenced by my older brother, I ended up joining an advertising and design agency. From there, I did not leave the area anymore.
I’ve been working as an art director and designer for 25 years and I do what I really enjoy.
How would you define your vision of design, your style ?
From the beginning of my career I’ve learned that design needs to be timeless. I really believe it and I look into every project. I always seek simplification with personality in every design I execute.
For the future, what are your professional projects ?
Almost three years ago, I decided to open the Gilnei Silva studio and offer visual identity projects aligned with the branding, so I intend to consolidate myself in the Brazilian market as one of the best studios in the category.
What do you like the most in your job ?
But besides, I am happy to receive feedback from a customer saying that with design he has managed to boost success in his business. It’s really very gratifying to know that I’m on the right track.
