Saskia Eikenboom - UHMO.

Discover the interview of Saskia Eikenboom – UHMO.:

How did you become designer?

When I was a little girl all i wanted to was draw and make some kind of packaging. From that moment it should have been clear to me that was going to do something in branding. But I went to school to become an interior designer. Luckily for me my whole school changed my education and decided that it would be smarter to make it broader so to include branding. This was the best that could have happened to me and this is how i got into designing

How would you define your vision of design, your style?

I always try to get to the “why” of a brand. I ask my clients a lot of questions and listen to this very careful. And translate all of this into the design of their brand. Also i hate doing stuff that everybody else is doing so I always had to be different. This is also something I explain to my clients if you want to stand out from the heard just be different. My style is very bold and different. When everybody goes left I go right. When everybody chooses neutrals I go for the bold colours. Everything within the borders of the strategy that I have in mind for the branding.

For the future, what are your professional projects?

At this moment I’m working with a lot of dream clients of mine. I’m designing a really cool branding concept for a cafe in the Emirates. In my own country i’m working on a branding project for pregnancy lingerie. In Germany I’m working on a spa face mask brand. And is Saodi Arabia I’m developing a brand for a dietery meal subscription plan. I love working with people from over the whole world and hope to continue doing this in the feature.

What do you like the most in your job?

That I help people bring their ideas to life. At the moment the come to me everything has just been a concept. Once they start seeing the moodboards and the logo and all the visual identity you can just see the twinkle in their eyes. You just see the moment when they want to go all in to make their business a success. To be apart of this process is an honour and exactly that is what i like the most of my job. My job is not a job it is my life. I just really love it. When I’m at work it just doesn’t feel like working. This is the most amazing feeling in the world.
