Discover the interview of Polina Shiyan:

How did you become designer?

I have always loved to draw and have been creative since childhood. As a teenager, I graduated from art school. I didn’t have any degrees in the design area. But I created a projection to enter this industry firmly and permanently. My journey in the profession of designer began with an advertising agency, where I was a junior designer. Within 5 months, I was promoted to mid-level designer. Since then, my projection has become a reality. Years later, with good design and prepress skills, I started to get involved in branding, identity, and packaging as a freelancer. Now I perceive this journey as a constant process of learning and creativity.

How would you define your vision of design, your style?

For me, design should always be meaningful, balanced, eye-catching, and functional at the same time. My style tends to be minimalist, but this depends on the request; it can also be vibrant and expressive. I strive to be different and go beyond the usual boundaries. But the quality and clarity remain unchanged.

I consider it my responsibility to reveal the authenticity of each brand through a visual story, standing out from its competitors.

For the future, what are your professional projects?

I aim to continue to specialise in branding and packaging design. Still preferring to work with sustainable packaging, smart use of materials.

Looking ahead, there are plans for collaboration with studios in the future.

In addition, I will continue to expand my skills in 3D visualization, and perhaps in the future I will use more motion design.

What do you like the most in your job?.

The most I like is seeing projects come to life. It’s always a great pleasure to spot one of the brands or products I’ve helped create out in the real world.

Before starting work, I also like to explore the essence of the brand through the person who owns it. This requires not only intelligence, but also an intuitive ability to identify what’s truly important and relevant to the client.

And of course, I’m fascinated about the entire creative process – from research to final execution – the challenge of finding visual solutions. Every project is the constant process of new approaches, learning something new, that keeps dynamic and inspiring.
