Maria Giannico

Discover the interview of Maria Giannico:

How did you become designer?

I became a designer at a very young age: I started studying graphic design in high school. In my senior year, I met a teacher who believed in me and encouraged me to continue my studies. From there, my dream became a reality: thanks to the support of my family, I was able to attend a very prestigious school, the IED – European Institute of Design – and that’s where it all began.

How would you define your vision of design, your style?

My style is rooted in a deep passion for art, nature and history, which I consider inexhaustible sources of inspiration. I love to propose ideas that are always fresh and diverse, because I believe each project deserves its own unique soul. I enjoy exploring different fields. In food design I feel particularly at home, as it embodies tradition, conviviality and that quintessential Italian lifestyle which I carry with me in every creation. For me, each work is a story, a unique journey, tailored to the product and its very essence.

For the future, what are your professional projects?

I see many projects in the future, some of which are already underway—work that excites me and that I hope will grow over time. I would love to collaborate on initiatives that allow me to work with different professionals: I enjoy sharing ideas and exchanging inspiration with others.

What do you like the most in your job?.

I love every aspect of my work: the design process that takes me through studying colours, exploring ideas, focusing on details and taste, and, above all, building a connection with my clients. Seeing a brand or packaging I’ve created come to life and grow is truly extraordinary—it feels like giving shape to a creation that evolves over time.
