Discover the interview of Kemal Avdovic multidisciplinary designer from Sarajevo :
When I was young, I was interested in games and wanted to learn how to make them. Instead of learning to code I wanted to figure out how to make stuff in 3D like game models and weapons. I started to use, I think, 3Ds Max 3 and started learning modeling.
Next, I wanted to have a website to share my work, so I began learning how to design and make a website and that is where the real interest in design began. After that came the first web design freelance jobs and I became increasingly interested in all aspects and areas of design. I began reading design
books, following tutorials and practicing.
That went on through all high school and university. Some halfway through my studies, where I was studying to become a mechanical engineer, I realized that design is my passion (:D) and left the university and continued to pursue my design career.
How would you define your design vision, your style?
Functional and consumer/user oriented. I always like to start with the function and put the consumer/user first. While it is not always possible to go through this process, I always strive to make my design fulfill a purpose.
For the future, what are your professional projects?
I am working on the line of CBD products and right now we are trying to solve a problem of designing a box for samples that will go out to consumers and influencers. We are trying to make a box that can hold 6, 12 and 24 samples and still look good.
Parallel to that I am also working on a digital ad campaigning for the local market for a renowned car company (under NDA at the time of writing this).
What do you like the most in your job?
What I like the most is that I can work in a lot of different industries. Design a packaging box in one, website in another and work on producing digital ad campaigning videos in a completely different industry. I think that keeps my brain working better and it keeps me on the edge.
