Discover the interview of Ivan Abbadie:
How did you become designer?
I recall answering questions like this in the past. However, upon further reflection, i would like to mention that we are all designers in a sense because we all have the preconceived notion of finding ways to solve life’s daily issues. In this way, we become professional designers when we embrace this capacity and evolve, not only academically, but also experientially.
We search within ourselves for a deep understanding of our true role, therefore, we find ourselves effortlessly focused on our profession’s constant journey. We understand our role completely and executing it responsibly and ethically to pave the way for intrinsic societal benefit.
How would you define your vision of design, your style?
In that regard i must say that having spent more than twenty years in my profession, i have developed a more professional and comprehensive outlook. I avoid viewing design from a personal perspective. Instead, i delve deeper into the design process, bring my ideas to life, and demonstrate their value by sharing them with others.
I see design as an entire process with three main aspects such as research, conceptualization, and resolution. Without one of these three elements, there would be no true design process, that’s where it gets its value.
This approach prevents designs from becoming merely aesthetic, vague, ephemeral, or shallow. Conversely, it allows one to find a practical, functional, easy-to-identify, timeless, and beneficial aspects.
For the future, what are your professional projects?
I’m at an especially important stage in my professional development. I feel that i have acquired the right balance between knowledge and experience. For this reason, i believe that it is both responsible and appropriate for me to start a project that i have been working on for several years.
This project sheds light on design in the lives of designers and in society. It explores the deep conception and understanding of its potential impact on governments, institutions, and society at large, paying close attention to the widespread desire for a well-designed world. I will clearly state what that means and how we can achieve it together.
Consequently, i would like to continue working at pizelato™ as a specialized brand identity consultant designer and increase my presence in other countries, particularly the United States, Canada, and the EU.
What do you like the most in your job?
Without a doubt, it’s because i don’t view this as a job. Fortunately, i have the privilege of doing what i love and enjoying what i do. I get to learn about different industries and work on many social projects. I also get to experience other cultures around the world. This profession has kept me engaged and up to date. It has given me the opportunity to grow in many aspects of life.
My work has been recognized by more than twenty countries around the world, and published in several books in Europe, Asia, and America. These recognitions motivate me to constantly improve in my work.
Finally, i’d like to take this opportunity to express my commitment to design and promote its great value. I am grateful to the entire Favorite Design team for supporting us in continuing to to promote this cause in our profession. Thank you so much!
