How did you become designer?

My path into design started with curiosity. I’ve always been drawn to the way visuals communicate – especially through printed materials and packaging. When I began working in a print shop, I didn’t just design – I followed how every file becomes a real product. I learned a lot about prepress, quality checks, materials, and finishing. That showed me how important it is for a design to work not only on screen but also in people’s hands.

In 2007, I created Design Depot EOOD in Sofia. My idea was simple: to combine creativity with a real understanding of how things are produced. Today, as Founder & Creative Director, I try to make sure that every project we do isn’t just nice to look at – it’s well thought through, practical and ready for the real world.

How would you define your vision of design, your style?

At Design Depot, we believe good design should be clear, useful, and feel right to the person who sees or touches it. We like simple, well-organized layouts, good typography, and materials that match the brand’s story. We avoid complexity for the sake of being “different.”

We often say, “Design is responsibility.”
Responsibility to the brand – to speak honestly.
Responsibility to the user – to make things simple and enjoyable.
Responsibility for production – to make sure what we create can actually be made well.

For us, design is not just decoration. It has a job to do.

For the future, what are your professional projects?

Looking ahead, I’d like to develop Design Depot in a few important areas:

More projects in sustainable packaging, smart use of materials, and less waste

More premium FMCG and beverage brands where design makes a real difference on the shelf

Working more internationally, sharing Bulgarian creativity, and getting inspired by other markets

Spending time teaching and mentoring young designers – because practical knowledge must be passed on

Our goal stays the same: to create ideas that look good and work well from the first sketch to the final product.

What do you like the most in your job?.

I really enjoy the moment when a project leaves our studio and becomes something people use. Seeing a package printed and placed on a shelf – and then noticing someone pick it up – that’s one of the best feelings in this profession.

I also enjoy follow-ups with clients months later: Did it sell well? What did people think? How can we improve next time? Design doesn’t end when the artwork is approved – the real test comes in the market.

And on a personal level, helping young designers grow and find confidence in their work gives me a lot of satisfaction. When we share experience, the whole industry gets better.

At the end of the day, I’m driven by simple things: curiosity, learning, and good collaboration. I enjoy building long-term relationships with clients, understanding their challenges, and celebrating success together. And I’m grateful that through Design Depot, I get to work with people who trust us to shape how their products are seen and experienced.

Design for me is not just a job – it’s a way to communicate, to solve problems, and to leave something meaningful behind.
