How did you become designer ?

I always liked art and design at high school. When I graduated, I moved to Wellington and studied design at Victoria University. I majored in Illustration. My first job out of University was working in the prepress department in a small printing company. It wasn’t a very creative job, but I learnt about the printing process and how to set up files correctly for printing

How would you define your vision of design, your style ?

I’d like to think my style is quite different for each project. It depends on the brief. Coming from an illustration background I love storytelling, I try to treat a label like a book cover. It has to be eye-catching . I often use illustrators, which I think helps keep each project unique. I also use a lot of colour, with wine labels especially there’s a lot of white. Colour helps with shelf standout!

For the future, what are your professional projects ?

I have several nice projects in the pipeline. I’ve just finished a bourbon and cola premix, and a gin range. I’m currently working on a seltzer, a tonic and a beer brand

What do you like the most in your job ?

I love collaborating with artists and illustrators. I love how they bring something special to the table. I also like paper stocks, foils and embellishments in Alcohol packaging. Its great when you see the product you’ve designed on the shelves and its great to know that it been successful for the client!
