LIYSTOR is a restaurant in the heart of Athens, Greece, with a direct view of the Acropolis. It is located in the former residence of the renowned archaeologist Kyriakos Pittakis, who discovered the “Klepsydra (hourglass) of the Acropolis”.
Specialising in fish, LIYSTOR combines contemporary dining with architecture, history, and storytelling.
The name LIYSTOR is a combination of two ancient words and means “thief of water,” directly connected to the Klepsydra and the restaurant’s focus on fish.
The logotype is built on three symbolic pillars: fish (the restaurant’s seafood focus), the Klepsydra (water and history), and the mask of a thief (a reference to the name). Two mirrored fish form the central symbol, where the negative space reveals a Klepsydra (hourglass), while the mark also suggests a subtle thief’s mask.
The visual language was inspired by the Athenian neoclassical architecture of the 1890s building. Marble and wood textures, along with architectural details, are depicted on special papers.
