Discover the interview of Xosé Teiga in Pontevedra, Spain

How did you become designer ?

Since I was 15 years old I was interested in drawing and creating posters for school competitions. Someone told me that that was a gift and that I could develop that skill by studying design. And that was what I did to enroll first in a design school and then in fine arts. Then I started working in an advertising agency and went up to the positions of responsibility until I founded my own design agency.

How would you define your vision of design, your style ?

My style is based on conceptual, minimalist design and based primarily on ideas. Aesthetics do not weigh as much as ideas. I am focused on the search for new ways that bring innovation.
I work mainly with typography, being always a main element in the orders resolutions. I think that my style is simple and aseptic, that every element that does not contribute anything is eliminated to remain only the essential.

For the future, what are your professional projects ?

Continue researching and looking for new paths that bring freshness and innovation to my work. Resolve the orders we have to grow and get more complex and international orders.

What do you like the most in your job ?

I really like the research part because it makes it grow culturally and know more. I always say that it is a privilege to learn from customers, because they teach you everything they know about their products and services, and each sector is different, with which you are adding knowledge and becoming more professionally educated.
