Paola Paronetto

Discover the interview of Paola Paronetto in Porcia, Italy

How did you become designer ?

I approached ceramics and clay when I was 18 and immediately felt the magic in it . I was only 18 when I began my training in ceramics in Gubbio, where I learned the main techniques of working with clay. I then continued with the participation in an intense series of professional courses in Deruta, Faenza, Florence and Vicenza. Through the years, my work has evolved from more traditional ways of expression to a more individual and contemporary way of expression. I have evolved and my sculptures have evolved, too.

How would you define your vision of design, your style ?

The Cartocci collection is the result of my search for beauty, along with elegance, lightness, delicacy. I have been developing the Cartocci Collection for almost 10 years now. I am challenging the material, exploring its structural limits by finding new shapes, proportions and volumes.

For the future, what are your professional projects ?

My goal is to continue creating pieces and forms that are in tune with the world around me and have an impact on the hearts and minds of those who see them.  To continue to evolve as a person and see how this influences my work.

What do you like the most in your job ?

I enjoy expressing my emotions by the means of a technique which gives me creative freedom. My work gives me the possibility to transform impressions of everyday life into something that touches people.  I really enjoy the haptics of all the materials I use. It´s such a pleasure to touch and create with my hands.
