Discover the interview with Norma Rodricks :

How did you become designer ?

While I was growing up, I was always drawing and painting, and by the time I finished high school, I knew I a career in design and advertising. However, over the years I realised my passion is to design. Having the opportunity to be part of a brand’s journey and express themselves honestly through design as opposed to overselling and pushing products at consumers gave me a lot of satisfaction.

How would you define your vision of design, your style ?

I believe that design has a language. I use clean, minimal and flat graphics illustrations as my style. Connecting an idea or story through design is the key to bringing a project to life. Having fun while working on any project is important to me.

For the future, what are your professional projects ?

I work mostly with food and restaurant brands, whether it is branding for restaurants, designing dark kitchens, or creating packaging for new consumer products. I’m really excited about a few international projects in the pipeline. It’s a joy to be part of this design journey.

What do you like the most in your job ?

If you love what you do, it is not a job. I get to create and design new things, come up with exciting ideas, and explore new possibilities in look and style, each project unique from the last. I enjoy being fully involved in the project from beginning to end. There are days when I work 12 hours and other days it is just two, and then I build a Lego batmobile while ideas are brewing in my head passively. Furthermore, I get to know my clients better and thus able to build a relationship that is based on trust and respect for the greater good of the company and the consumer.
