How did you become a designer ?

The profession comes from family. My father (Miguel Angel Zapata) was creative advertising, It awakened in me the passion for design, concept and imageand since I was little I was impregnated with Chinese ink, paint, brushes, letraset® … There were no computers or software design … but many pencils and cameras to practice.

Later with the photomechanics and the beginning of the computers applied to the design I was specializing in product, brand, labels … more than 28 years of experience and designs realized in more than 75 countries.

How would you define your vision of design, your style ?

The vision of the product must be broader than a simple linear sale … it is where one adapts as a “chameleon” to the perception of the future client. Clear lines, impact on linear lines … without mental limits in my designs. I create brands and make them sell.

What do you like the most in your job?

The combination of classic techniques (design, illustration, photography, …) that form a “magic” product
with methodology and become direct sales.

For the future, what are your professional projects ?

Take product design to another level. Everyone designs and makes good designs … the concept is the same as centuries ago, but the ability to interact with the customer and offer a 2.0 design beyond simple packaging. With the knowledge and technology of today it is possible! That’s my future LAB-DESIGN (zapata.pro)
