Daniel Montiel – Gitanos Consulting

Discover the interview of Daniel Montiel – Gitanos Consulting, located in San José, Costa Rica.

How did you become designer ?

I was always interested in drawing as a child, I think I had a notebook where I wrote my name and then I began to draw obsessively to Box Bunny, after that I was 10 years older and started listening to music, Grunge, alternative rock and I loved some covers, I learned to play several musical instruments and then I enrolled in college, there I discovered that I loved graphic design and that some day I would design some cover.

How would you define your vision of design, your style ?

Concpetual and close, this because I believe in functional design, simple and that does not have many distractions, be concise, good design must be sincere and without frills. If an element is not needed, it is not necessary.

In my personal non-commercial projects I define it as dream-dadaist, since I have a frustrated artist inside me where what I do I do not consider it art, if not anti-art, this since when I discovered Duchamp and everything wonderful that happened in 1923 With contemporary art, it opened my mind and my way of seeing the world.

For the future, what are your professional projects ?

This year I had the goal of obtaining international projects, or represent a company in Costa Rica, I’m still looking for that, we have already completed two projects at the international level and several projects outside of my country, so we will continue looking for that goal. Maintain the quality of visual communication and be able to collaborate with major brands, companies and important projects internationally.

What do you like the most in your job ?

Creative freedom, that I can explore new worlds and learn new things every day, I also like to share knowledge and learn from other people, sometimes just by observing I learn and I love that.
