How did you become designer ?
I have always been creative and at school I both enjoyed and flourished in Art and Design more than any other subject. Being a designer to me means solving a problem, being challenged and having fun at the same time. Whilst studying for my degree at LCC, I knew I wanted to pursue a career in the creative industries and a career in Graphic Design became a natural path to follow.
How would you define your vision of design, your style ?
With my projects I like to incorporate bright colours and interesting layouts, keeping things experimental and playful. Clean and simple design is something I also like to have when designing. My style is largely dependent on what is on trend and the inspiration I gather from other designers. I like to keep my style as varied as possible. I have a strong interest in hand lettered typography and I’m looking to become a lettering artist in the near future.
For the future, what are your professional projects ?
In the future I aspire to work on lots of branding identity and packaging design briefs. Anything that offers a good challenge and freedom to explore different avenues and possibilities greatly interests me.
I’m currently in between jobs and so I take on freelance jobs from time to time. If anyone is interested in working with me, please head over to my website at www.alisoncongdon.com and I’d be happy to collaborate.
What do you like the most in your job ?
I like being inspired by other designers and learning from others. Graphic Design presents a constant learning curve and being able to accomplish something I previously thought was out of my reach is very rewarding. Being able to make a positive impact on a company and seeing a project through from start to finish is what I like most.
