This project explores label as a narrative device for Cynthia Anderson 1981, a vodka brand conceived as a tribute to a real, unresolved mystery. The design moves beyond aesthetic to become an integral part of the brand’s story.
The core concept is a sequential reveal across two bottles. The first label, marked simply “MISSING,” features a stark, fine-line profile portrait, setting a tone of elegant absence. The companion bottle bears only a “U,” completing the phrase “Missing U” when paired. This interaction transforms a personal homage into a shared, experiential moment for the consumer.
The visual language reinforces the theme. A square bottle provides a dignified, archival feel. Typography is clean and authoritative, while intentional design details—like a “si 1981” note rendered in a digital brush-stroke texture—evoke the imperfection of a cold case file. The result is a packaging system that is minimalistic yet loaded with meaning, inviting contemplation and making the act of discovery central to the brand experience.
