Solspill – Premium Hydration Solspill is a premium hydration brand created to connect functional performance with an experience-led lifestyle positioning. The project started from a clear opportunity in the market: most hydration drinks either looked too technical and performance-driven or too generic and forgettable, leaving space for a brand that could blend electrolytes and minerals with an aspirational, design-conscious identity. From the beginning, the goal was to build more than a logo or a pretty can. The objective was to create a complete beverage branding system, aligning strategy, visual identity, packaging, and digital touchpoints so that Solspill could launch as a coherent, premium brand. The brand was born from a personal insight during travel, where the founder noticed how some drinks felt integrated into moments, while others felt purely functional. This observation guided the concept behind Solspill: hydration should feel like part of a moment, not just a response to thirst. The brand vision framed hydration as an experience that elevates everyday life, while the mission focused on improving small daily moments through better design and better product choices. The purpose connected the drink to lifestyle and identity, rather than limiting it to purely functional claims such as “performance” or “recovery”. Strategically, Solspill was positioned away from traditional sports drinks and closer to contemporary lifestyle beverages. The core values of authenticity, connection, and energy became the foundation for all decisions across design, language, and behaviour. The target audience consists of urban, active consumers who care about quality, aesthetics, and how a product fits into their social, travel, and wellness routines. For these consumers, brand choice is as much about self-expression as it is about ingredients, which means design and storytelling play an essential role in perceived value. The brand’s positioning blends functional and emotional benefits. On the functional side, Solspill offers hydration supported by electrolytes, minerals, vitamins, and light carbonation, making the product suitable for both active and social contexts. On the emotional side, the brand is designed to “live” inside real experiences: meeting friends, exploring the city, traveling, or taking a break during the day. This dual approach allowed the brand to claim a unique space: a lifestyle-integrated hydration concept that feels flexible and relevant in multiple situations, instead of being limited to gyms or high-performance scenarios. The visual identity system was built to translate this strategy into a distinctive, coherent language. The logo uses fluid, organic shapes that suggest balance, movement, and connection, without relying on literal symbols or clichés from the category. This approach reinforces the idea of flow and energy while keeping the brand open, scalable, and emotionally expressive. The color palette was developed after a detailed review of competing beverage brands, many of which repeated similar visual codes. Solspill’s palette combines warm and cool tones in a way that creates contrast, supports flavor differentiation, and delivers strong visibility on shelves and in digital environments. Typography and layout choices were kept clean and structured, supporting clarity and premium perception while leaving enough space for expressive elements. Photography direction played an important role in reinforcing the lifestyle positioning. Instead of focusing on studio product shots only, the project prioritized images that show people, movement, and genuine moments. The drink appears in context: in hands, on tables, in bags, and in scenes that reflect travel, social life, and everyday rituals. This visual narrative helps the brand feel human, accessible, and experience-driven, not just like another beverage on a shelf. Packaging design was treated as a core strategic touchpoint, since in beverage branding the can is both product and communication. The process explored different creative directions before defining the final path. One route leaned into natural, organic visuals, while another focused on bolder, more graphic compositions. This exploration helped clarify how far the brand should push toward minimalism versus expressiveness. The final can design balances these forces: it is clean enough to read as premium and modern, yet expressive enough to stand out in a crowded cold case. Hierarchy, color blocking, and negative space were carefully planned so that key information is easy to read at a distance while the overall composition remains visually striking. A crucial requirement was that the can design needed to perform in two very different environments: physical shelves and digital screens. On shelf, the design had to capture attention quickly among many competing products, using contrast, structure, and clear focal points. Online, it needed to work in small thumbnails, lifestyle photos, and user-generated content. The result is a can that photographs well, maintains legibility at different sizes, and supports the brand’s presence on social media, e-commerce, and marketing materials. The scope of the project included the full core identity assets (logo, color system, typography), packaging and 3D product visualizations, as well as digital and marketing applications. Social media layouts and content templates were designed to maintain consistency between the physical product and its online representation. A brand style guide was created to document the system and provide clear rules for future use, ensuring that all new applications remain coherent with the original strategy and design language. Overall, the Solspill project shows how a beverage brand can be built by integrating strategy, visual identity, and packaging design into a single cohesive system. The result is a premium hydration brand that differentiates itself in a saturated market, combines emotional and functional value, and uses design as a tool to build recognition, trust, and desirability across every touchpoint.
